By choosing various stock footage videos and splicing them together, artist Alexei Dmitriev is capable of constructing a narrative film around the visual and verbal pun of stock. Interestingly enough this video editing method in some ways replicates the processes of AI art generation platforms such as Dall-e. Nevertheless, Dmitriev’s work is completely led by himself and his aesthetic choices. In doing so, he offers us the following filmmaking advice: “ If one worries about copyright and the potential legal implications of using found footage — this is an affordable solution.
